Cancel all your plans on Sunday evening! At 18:00 24th September, the finalists for Salute’s quest to unearth the very best in British musical talent will be announced on Salute Music Maker’s Facebook page.

Forget the industry standard, generic voting systems used by other competitions – Salute Music Makers have developed a whole new way for Music Lovers  to vote (patent pending) and become curators in their own right for their favourite songwriters.

In a world first, voters register their votes for their favourite artists by interacting with an AI Bot in Facebook Messenger: called Salute Music Messenger, users are given the chance to construct a winning playlist from music that’s delivered in completely randomised sets via Facebook Messenger, direct to their inboxes over 5 weeks, commencing 26th September.

Having emerged back in March amongst a storm of media interest, the original and innovative new music talent platform, Salute Music Makers have now reached the “Top 100” stage of their national competition. Having already ensured their truly inclusive showcase for the best of UK talent features artists from over 50 different nationalities (resident in the UK), and every genre from techno to heavy metal and classical music, they have now revealed their unique voting system, which enables every music fan to not only vote but become curator and judge utilising Facebook Messenger to become the world’s first interactive voting system (patent pending).

Shunning the anonymous, generic “click once” approach of X Factor and The Voice, a specially-designed Facebook Messenger bot will interact with the user throughout this voting stage by unlocking ten completely-randomised, 10 track playlists, every fourth day. Adding an element of Eurovision-like drama to the proceedings, an ever-changing league table showing the current leading tracks will be revealed to the voters during the process via Facebook Messenger, allowing them to see how their favourite artists are performing.

Voting closes on 27th October, at which point the user will have evaluated each track – the six acts who have made it to the final of the competition will be those who were featured in the most playlists at a specific time and date broadcasted through the bot once all tracks have been unlocked. As those voting won’t know the time or date the playlist voting is closed, the drama is extended to the very last minute as every track on the playlist can be changed – the leader board can be turned on its head at any time while all playlists are active! Salute Music Makers have ensured that this unique voting system engages with the user at every stage of the process, even allowing for latecomers to receive any backdated playlists they missed.

Spearheaded by the legendary former front-man of The Undertones, Feargal Sharkey, Salute are proud to be providing a platform for the up-and-coming songwriters of the UK. The Salute team of curators including Ras Kwame, Chris Tofu OBE, Jonathan Quarmby, Simon Perry (ReverbNation), Fiona Bevan, Dee Adam and Kwame Kwaten have evaluated and judged the top 100 artists, whose futures now lie in the hands of the most important people – the music lovers.

Feargal Sharkey was keen to comment on this boundary-smashing stage of the competition:

“The top 100 artists being announced to the public on Sunday are truly the cream of the crop of Britain’s musical talent. Giving the artists such a huge platform for their music to be heard on, and for music fans to be able to vote and follow their progress throughout this stage of the competition, is truly ground-breaking and shows Salute at the forefront of championing new independent music and proves once again that Britain is leading the way in discovering the best new musical talent through the use of cutting-edge technology.”
